What you can expect

Get in touch with your inner castaway on bewitching Rarotonga, where bone white beaches and jungle-covered peaks meet tropical plantations and a millennium's worth of Polynesian culture.

Take a seat on a comfortable, air-conditioned bus and take in the spectacular scenery as you cruise along the Ara Metua, or Road of Toi. This 11th-century road encircles the entire island to connect maraes (ceremonial sites), and is paved in slabs of coral and basalt. Visit Beachcomber, Takamoa Theological college, Cook islands Library and Museum. Ride along the coast to Black Rock—these volcanic rocks cropping out of the turquoise waters are a prime snorkelling destination. Stop at the Garden of 7 canoes and learn about the Maori canoe traditions. Stop where three coconut trees were planted by Queen Elizabeth, Prince Phillip and Princess Anne on 28 January 1974. View the Needle lookout and enjoy light refreshments at Island Living, before being dropped off to your accommodation.
