Activity itinerary

Have you ever wanted to take that next step to skiing / splitboarding in the backcountry and felt some apprehension? Your fear of the unknown mountain environment is a very healthy fear, but with some instruction and guidance from a professional, the unknown will start to make sense. During this programme, we will go to a backcountry area close to Banff and you will learn the basic skills necessary to be successful while backcountry skiing / riding. This is the perfect course to take in addition to an AST 1 (Avalanche Skills Training) course, which teaches how to identify and manage avalanche hazard in the backcountry. The skills covered include: - Using your backcountry skiing / riding gear - Route finding - Applied decision making in avalanche terrain
