The notoriously flamboyant Henry VIII bought Hampton Court Palace in 1520 and began decorating it with fabulous tapestries and paintings. By the end of the 17th century, William III and Mary II added elegance and romance to the palace by commissioning beautiful, neighbouring Baroque buildings.

Today the remaining Tudor buildings are among the most important ones in existence. They are set in 60 acres of immaculate riverside gardens, next to a world-famous maze.
