What you can expect

Spend the night in a boat cruising in the gorgeous Ha Long Bay, the UNESCO-listed majesty of sheer limestone cliffs rising from crystal clear waters. Explore caves, eat delicious Vietnamese fare, and admire the remarkable results of millions of years of tectonic shifting and erosion.

Day 1: Ha Long Bay & Thien Canh Son Cave

Get picked up from your hotel in Hanoi at drive to Ha Long City, passing the rolling green fields of the Red River Delta. Cruise out into the bay, enjoy a welcoming drink, and admire the incredible karst landscape. Eat lunch and admire gorgeous limestone formations in Bai Tu Long Bay.

Explore Thien Canh Son Cave, a fascinating cavern full of stalactites and stalagmites. After the cave tour, return to the boat for sunbathing or swimming in crystal clear waters. Join a cooking class with the on-board chef, and then eat a traditional Vietnamese meal. In the evening, go night fishing, chat at the bar, and check into your room for the night.

Day 2: Vung Vieng floating village

Eat breakfast and enjoy the sunrise on the bay, before visiting the ancient Vung Vieng floating village. Spend some time piloting a bamboo boat along the beautiful waters around the ancient village. Check out from your room and enjoy your final cruise through the spectacle of the bay. Eat lunch before disembarking at Ha Long wharf, and begin the journey back to your Hanoi hotel in the evening.

This was not the initial Halong tour I had booked. We had researched to make sure we’d get a chance to walk through caves as part of our adventure. Instead we were “upgraded” to a different boat. This trip did not offer the hike inside the caves. 😕. I asked about our original booking, and was told that ship wasn’t running, so they placed us here. The staff was friendly enough. The food was average. The prices for drinks on the boat were very high. I’m glad we had taken our own water with us. ( even that was 4x the amount in town) Our tour guide Dee was helpful when needed. Halong is a beautiful place. Last time I visited Halong, the boats drove around more of the bay. This time it seemed they had a place to “park” and then we took the small boat to get to swimming and the row boats.

Loved the trip. Very relaxing. However, it took too long to get to the boat and then back to the hotel. Same experience twenty five years ago was much more precise in timing. No stop on the way, quickly on the boat when bus reached the dock. Then, on return, return trip arranged in advance, so no waiting to get a bus and no stop on the way. That would be nice again.

We loved this trip, the boat was gorgeous and our cabin was amazing! The staff were brilliant throughout, and there was a full program of activities to enjoy throughout the 2 days. The cruise Manager, Son, was really great and kept us fully informed of what we were doing! The food was absolutely delicious, lots of fresh fish included in the courses! We would definitely recommend this cruise to friends!

Wonderful trip, really enjoyed the time spent there. Incredible experience, absolutely loved the whole time I was in Halong Bay. The kayaking was great fun and good to swim in the warm water. The tai chi in the morning was challenging but a lot of fun. Seeing the fishing village was enlightening and informative. Overall a fantastic experience, and I will be sure to return.
