The "Field of Burnt Rice" (Ladang Beras Terbakar) in Langkawi, Malaysia, holds historical significance dating back to the late 18th century. As a defensive measure, they set fire to the rice fields to prevent the invaders from harvesting the crops, leaving nothing behind for them to sustain themselves.
