Discover Kampong Phluk – The Enchanting Floating Village of Cambodia. Kampong Phluk is a mesmerising cluster of three villages built on towering stilts within the floodplain of Tonle Sap Lake, just 16 km southeast of Siem Reap, Cambodia. This hidden gem offers a glimpse into the unique lifestyle of over 3,000 inhabitants, who adapt to the lake’s dramatic seasonal changes. A Village That Transforms with the Seasons: Dry Season (Nov–May): As the water recedes, the towering 6–8 metre stilt houses stand tall, revealing the wooden poles beneath. Many villagers move onto the lake, setting up floating houses until the rains return. Wet Season (Jun–Oct): As the Tonle Sap Lake expands, the water level rises, turning the village into a true floating community. The flooded mangrove forests surrounding the village become a sanctuary for wildlife, including crab-eating macaques and a variety of fish and birds.

Going out on the Tonle Sap itself is a deeply calming experience thanks to the still waters meeting the horizon as far as you can see. We round off the day with a drink (and dinner, if you wish) at a traditional floating restaurant to watch the sun set over the lake.
