Frans Hals Museum - Hof
  • 3m
  • Admission ticket not included
If I may advise you… a visit to the Frans Hals Museum is highly recommended. The Museum displays various collections. Of course you can admire the internationally famous collection of 17th century art from Haarlem: the cradle of 17th century Dutch painting, with Frans Hals as paterfamilias.
Nieuwe Kerk of Sint Annakerk Haarlem
  • 3m
The Nieuwe Kerk, built in 1649, was the first stone church building built specifically for Protestants in Haarlem. The classicist design by Jacob van Campen is special, in which all attention was not paid to the altar, but to the pulpit, which was positioned centrally. This made the preacher both visible and audible from all angles. The tower even dates back to 1613. When the Nieuwe Kerk was being built, the Haarlem city council decided that this tower should remain standing.
Brouwershofje
  • 10m
We visit the courtyard, which was founded in 1457 by Jacob Huyge Roeperszoon and his sister Katrijntje Huyge Roepersdat, a brewing family affiliated with the Brewers' Guild. During that period, the courtyard included 22 houses for poor, unmarried women who had worked as 'maids' for breweries.
Museumbezoek Huis Barnaart
  • 3m
  • Admission ticket not included
At Nieuwe Gracht 7 we pass the Museumhuis Barnaart, which is definitely worth a visit. This stately building used to be owned by one of the richest merchants in the city, Willem Philip Barnaart. As a 21-year-old, he had his reception house built on the canal by Abraham van der Hart. It resulted in an almost un-Dutch city palace with the best preserved Empire interior in the Netherlands. It is still one of the most beautiful houses in the city and open to the public.
