What you can expect

Hike to the top of Pedra de Gávea, one of Rio's highest mountains, located by the sea. After the 2.5-hour trek, get rewarded with a stunning view over São Conrado beach, Ipanema, Tijuca, and Brazil's biggest slum.

After pickup from your hotel, make your way to the foot of Pedra de Gávea. Named the Topsail Rock by the Portuguese sailors back in the 1500s, the granite mountain stands at 2,763 feet (842 m). As you head to the top, follow your professional guide and climb through few obstacles.

Once you reach the peak, relax and marvel at the impressive sights including Rio's southern coastline, the vast Tijuca Forest, and Rocinha, Brazil's largest favela (the term for slum). Looking farther into the expansive view from the peak, get a glimpse of the symbolic Corcovado hill and Sugarloaf Mountain.
