Looking at the stunning landscapes of Vashlovani is a great experience whether you travel by your own or not. But having a local and experienced guide can open extra dimensions of it - as the park offers way more, than just the landscapes! During this tour you will explore what the park is hiding: enormous vultures, motionless reptiles, elegant gazelles and other masters of disguise. Even antique ruins and fossils are camouflaged here!
- Trip starts at 9:00 AM in Dedoplistskaro.
- Soon after leaving the town, road goes between agricultural fields which serve as favoured hunting grounds for various birds of prey. Here you meet Kestrels, Harriers, Buzzards, Eagles… And if you’re well prepared, you might even capture stunning photographs from the comfort of your car.
- Still in the middle of nowhere you will visit abandoned military airfield of soviet time. Hangars, runway and even old, ruined plane can be seen here.
- Vashlovani Rangers’ Station - view on the arid light forest, the core of the National Park.
- Next is a short stop at Leopard Viewpoint, from here you will enter Pantishara gorge, where you do a little time travel to geologic past of the area.
- Continue driving along a dry riverbed through the canyon. Rugged cliffs are favourite sitting spots for vultures - using the spotter, you can even make videos with your phone.
- Eldari lowland - the home for hundreds of gazelles. We'll attempt to spot them and observe from a distance while learning about their remarkable return to Georgia.
- Ancient ruins of an old town - Little is known about it, but standing among the ruins will undoubtedly spark numerous questions about life a millennium ago.
- After passing the border checkpoint, you will enter in a small valley again, drive through the Savanna-like woodland and stop at another breathtaking viewpoint. This vantage point offers a splendid view of the path you've traversed. Here, you can sit in tranquility and wait for the sunset, which enhances the landscape's vibrant colours.
- From here, you will departure to Dedoplistskaro.
