Leyte Landing Memorial

The park was built to commemorate the historic landing of Gen. Douglas MacArthur in Leyte Gulf in his campaign to liberate the Philippines from Japanese occupation. This event led to the largest naval battle of World War II. The park is located in the Municipality of Palo and is one of the most visited sites in Leyte. Main feature is the larger than life bronze statue of Gen Douglas MacArthur.
Metropolitan Cathedral of Our Lord's Transfiguration

Commonly called the Palo Cathedral to the locals, is located in the heart of the Municipality of Palo. The Cathedral was converted into a hospital during World War II for the wounded Allied Forces soldiers. In the grounds of the site sits a Memorial Park for those who perished during on onslaught of ST Haiyan on Nov. 08, 2013.
M/M Eva Jocelyn Shrine

17 Ships run aground during the onslaught of ST Haiyan in Nov. 08, 2013 and M/V Eva Jocelyn is just one of them. M/V Eva Jocelyn was pushed into the middle of a street by the water surge. This ship was the most difficult to push back into the waters and so was thus turned into a shrine.

San Juanico Bridge

San Juanico Bridge was once the longest bridge in the Philippines stretching 2.16 kilometres spanning a body of seawater. Considered as Leyte and Samar's iconic sites. Not only is the bridge important for tourism but it plays an important role in the economy of the region since it connects the island of Samar and Leyte. While on the bridge get to enjoy the stunning views of the San Juanico Strait, a narrow strait in the Eastern Visayas Region with a thousand whirlpools. and the nearby mountains and islets.
