This 1-day tour takes you on a discovery of Canavese, the borderland at the foot of the Alps of the Piedmont region, a natural gateway between the Italian peninsula and Europe. This region was a crossroad for armies, merchants, and pilgrims tracing the routes of the Via Salaria and Via Francigena through the valley of Mont Blanc and Graie Alps reaching Turin, the capital of the Savoy Reign and the first Italian capital.
This land of lakes, hills, forests, and castles is protected by the Serra Morenica, one of the largest morainic hills in the world. Here the vineyards enjoy the sweetness of its microclimate, producing excellent wines including the Carema Nebbiolo and the Caluso Erbaluce.
The Canavese cuisine has distinct flavours including cured meats and Alpine pasture cheeses, “Capònet” rolls of savoy cabbage with meat, stuffed onions with amaretto, “Ajucche” wild herb soup served with bread, and “Bagna Caòda”; the distinguished anchovy sauce served as a dip for crudités. All of this is just a taste of what awaits you on this tour.
