Enjoy an action-packed photography tour through Sri Lanka's most famous wildlife sanctuaries, from Sinharaja Forest Reserve to Bundala National Park. Grab the chance to take photos of exotic animals and birds, while accompanied by a local guide. Relax knowing food and accommodation are taken care of.
Day 1:
Begin your adventure by getting picked up from Colombo, Galle, Bentota, Beruwala, Negombo, or Hikkaduwa. Relax, and enjoy the views in air-conditioned comfort as you head to the first stop, Sinharaja.
After arrival in the late afternoon, follow your guide on a trekking tour in the Sinharaja Rainforest – one of the eight UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Sri Lanka. Photograph endless species of endemic flora and fauna.
After a busy day of capturing shots of Sri Lankan nature, check in to the Sinharaja Rainforest Eco Lodge, located on a plot of land that was once used for tea cultivation. Spend the rest of your night at this sanctuary surrounded by lush forest, and get a good night’s sleep.
Day 2:
Wake up early and devour a continental breakfast while taking in the rainforest views. Get driven to Udawalawe and commence a game drive through Udawalawe National Park, one of the best places in Sri Lanka to see wild elephants. Take more wildlife photos.
Once you’re feeling peckish, drive to Grand Udawalawe Hotel for lunch. After that, travel to Yala National Park and stay overnight at Leopard Nest for a luxury glamping experience at an environmentally friendly campsite.
Day 3:
Wake up early to freshly brewed Ceylon tea or coffee, then leave for a morning game drive in Yala National Park with your camera in tow. Look out for elephants, sloth bears, sambars, jackals, crocodiles, and leopards, of which there are more per area than anywhere else in the world.
Return from the morning trip to freshly squeezed juices from seasonal fruits followed by breakfast. After breakfast, take a nap on a hammock or check out some of the books about Sri Lankan wildlife conservation in the library.
After lunch at the campsite, make your way to Bundala National Park, which is famous for its exotic migratory bird species. Explore marshes, lagoons, and sand dunes, and take photos of over 200 types of birds. Return to the Leopard Nest Campsite for another peaceful night’s rest.
Day 4:
Begin your day with another early start and Ceylon tea or coffee. Embark on a trek to a picturesque lake that offers breath-taking views and more bird-watching opportunities. Take photos of the abundant wildlife, including elephants, deers, palm squirrels, and wild boars.
Eat breakfast at a private location by a lake while listening to the sound of singing birds and feeling the fresh breeze on your face. Afterwards, explore the village and soak up the local atmosphere in the surrounding area. Return to the campsite for lunch.
In the afternoon, start your game drive at Yala National Park and get another chance to photograph the leopards. Spend the evening at Leopard Nest Campsite reflecting on your past few days of adventure and marvelling at the many photos you have taken of the experience.
Day 5:
After breakfast, get driven back to your hotel.
