The world feijoada comes from the word “feijão” which is Portuguese for “beans”. It is a comfort food dish that many people prepare at home and it is one of the most typical dishes in the country. It consists of a black bean stew with hearty sausages and sundried beef, served with rice, collard greens, cassava (manioc) flour and orange slices. It is served throughout the country and there are many variations in each city.
