What you can expect

Arrive in Village and be welcomed by the warm hospitality of some local villagers. The scent of earth and the serene ambience of the countryside will immediately transport you to a simpler time. Be greeted by your host along with some friendly farmers who will be your guides on this culinary adventure.

Get greeted with warm smiles and a traditional welcome ceremony when you arrive at the farm. The scent of earth and the tranquility of the countryside will instantly transport you to a bygone era. Your host, who have been farmers for generations, will share stories of their agricultural heritage as you take in the picturesque views of rolling hills and fields of golden mustard plants along with cattle farms and a devra (temple of local deity).

Start your journey with a village tour through lush fields and gardens where locals tend crops like mustard greens for Sarson Ka Saag and chickpea flour for Gatte Ka Saag. Join in and learn traditional farming.

Head to an open-air kitchen amid the fields with a local Rajasthani cook's expert guidance. Get the chance to prepare traditional dishes like:

• Dal Bati. Start by crafting the dough for the batis, which will be baked in a traditional wood-fired clay oven. Simultaneously, you'll prepare the flavourful dal, a hearty lentil curry with some Indian masalas (spices) those are only native to this region.

• Churma. This sweet treat will be made from crushed batis mixed with ghee and locally produced jaggery that adds onto the sweetness.

• Gatte Ka Saag. The gatte (chickpea flour dumplings) will be prepared and cooked in a rich and spicy curry. This dish is a testament to the creativity and resourcefulness of local cuisine.

While the dishes are simmering and the flavours are melding, you'll be treated to a refreshing glass of Chaas and some local snacks that gets you going as you munch and make. This traditional buttermilk drink is made from churned yoghurt using a hand-held instrument called madhani (whipper).

After your hard work, it's time to enjoy the fruits. Gather beneath a neem tree in a scenic field, relish a Rajasthani feast of Dal Batti Churma, Sarson Ka Saag, Gatte Ka Saag, and Chaas, capturing the essence of Rajasthan on your plate. Local artisans and musicians will entertain you, revealing Village's vibrant culture.
