The Gala Archaeological-Ethnographic Museum Complex was established in 2008 with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in the ancient village of Gala in the Khazar district of Baku. Visitors to the museum get acquainted with the ancient history of the village of Gala.
In the Gala Archaeological-Ethnographic Museum Complex, which is one of the rare open-air museums in the world, the lifestyle of the people living in the village of Gala from the 3rd millennium BC to the present day, mounds, crypts, residential houses, remains of an ancient castle, 5 mosques, 3 baths, etc. . Pottery and baking shops are operating today as in the Middle Ages.
In 2011, the Castle Information Centre, the Ethno-Ecological Centre, the Museum of Antiques were established on the territory of the Castle Museum Complex, and the caravanserai-restaurant began to operate.
The Zoological Park complex has become a more comfortable and interesting place for visitors, and the total area has been increased almost twice, up to 4.25 hectares.
It should be noted that during the repair works, special attention was paid to the full protection of existing trees and shrubs on the site. In general, a more naturally landscaped environment has been created at the Zoological Park, and its green area increased to 6700 m2, ensuring both a well-being of animals and a pleasant visit for guests at the zoo.
Along with other innovations and various entertainment sites, playground, lecture hall and an electronic excursion stands have also been placed and created on the zoo territory. The Zoological Park has become a place of recreation and education for all, including people with disabilities and visitors of all age groups
The Baku Zoological Park is home to the Amur tiger, African lion, leopard, jaguar, zebra, bison, brown bear, sika deer, red deer, alpaca, llama, kangaroo, barbary sheep, wolf, fox, various types of primates and other mammals.
Dede Gorgud park, one of the modern parks, was opened in 2013. This park, built on an area of 6 hectares, is one of the largest parks in the capital. All conditions for recreation have been created here, greening works have been carried out, an artificial lake has been created, and a lighting system that meets modern standards has been installed. Dede Gorgud Park is also an open-air display of ancient Azerbaijani history and culture.
