The earliest records of the Farm are dated back to the end of the 15th century, during the Renaissance. At this time, Florence was ruled by the Medici dynasty under the kingdom of Lorenzo il Magnifico. At the same time, the Capponi family, one of the most influential of Florence, built our Farm, located about 25 km from Florence in a hilly area overlooking the gentle slopes of the Chianti. From this position derives the name “Poggio Capponi”, or “Capponi Hill”, which has denoted the Farm and its surrounding lands ever since its construction. In the 1930s Giuseppe Rousseau Colzi, a Florentine industrialist, decided to buy the property. In the last century the production of wine and oil has prevailed, which continue intensely today again. For more than five hundred years, the Poggio Capponi Farm looks on from the top of its promontory the hills, the woods, the vineyards and the olive groves, framed by one of most evocative panoramas of Tuscany.

Il Chianti è uno dei vini più famosi del mondo ma il suo disciplinare non va d’accordo con le idee di Vincenzo, costretto a seguire regole ogni giorno nel suo lavoro di commercialista, decide quindi di impiantare insieme a vitigni toscani come il Sangiovese e il Mammolo, anche il Merlot e il Cabernet Sauvignon. La passione di Vincenzo coinvolge la moglie Antonella, che abbandona la propria attività per dedicarsi all’Azienda. Antonella, siciliana vulcanica ed entusiasta, mette a regime l’azienda. Dal 2017 l’azienda è condotta da Diana, figlia di Antonella e Vincenzo, il cui obbiettivo è quello di coniugare la tradizionale ricerca dell’eccellenza produttiva con una moderna consapevolezza “green” , volta all’ecosostenibilità e alla produzione biologica.
