Chiang Rai by Night is an enchanting evening tour that invites visitors to explore the vibrant and culturally rich city of Chiang Rai after sunset. This experience highlights the city's unique landmarks, illuminated temples, and lively local atmosphere, offering a different perspective of this northern Thai gem.
Aftter your hotel pick up, we will take you to Mengrai monument in the middle of Chiang Rai. King Mengrai founded the city in 1262 and is known for establishing the ancient Lanna kingdom of northern Thailand.
From here, we’ll jump aboard the ancient, classical mode of transport in Southeast Asia – the humble rickshaw, also known as the samlor.
We’ll take a leisurely evening tour of the city, stopping by the various attractions of the quaint, small, charming city centre as you take in the sights and sounds in the open air.
Our destination is the Chiang Rai night bazaar. Chiang Rai’s night bazaar is a lively marketplace where visitors can find an endless variety of eating and drinking options. Listen to the guide’s advice about local Thai specialities to try, from spicy salads to flavourful northern Thai noodle dishes. We’ll select some options for guests to try.
After dinner, make sure your bargaining game is on point as you explore the shopping stalls of the bazaar. Explore the various local handicrafts on offer, from emblematic Thai fabrics to wooden teak carvings and other northern Thai masterpieces.
Many of the stalls are run by members of the ethnic hill tribes that live in the surrounding mountain villages. There are also more touristy stalls offering clothing and typical souvenirs. After browsing the stalls of the night bazaar, the tour concludes around 22:00, when guests can either return to their hotels or continue their night in one of the bars of Chiang Rai.
