Stop for chilling and optional walk on the beach looking at surfer's show... As the name suggests, Grande Beach [Praia Grande] is the largest beach on the Sintra coast, an expanse of white sand that delights holidaymakers. The golden sands, the purity of the Atlantic waters, and the outline of the coast with its rugged cliffs make this Sintra beach a truly enjoyable spot at any time of the year. Today, it is one of the favourite places in the world for surfing and bodyboarding, and it hosts some of the most important events in the national and international calendar, such as the World Bodyboard Championship in August.
Praia do Magoito

we will stop for enjoing the view of this beautiful beach and for a light snack in a local restaurant with sea view. This vast beach covered in gold sand and bathed by a turquoise sea is considered one of the most iodine rich beaches. From this sandy beach dotted with rocks, it is possible to get a glimpse of Cabo da Roca in the distance, to the south. Next to the access ramp to the beach you will find a fossil dune, a classified geomonument. The so-called consolidated dune is one of the most interesting geological aspects of the beach. This coastal dune was formed by accumulation of sand generated by the combined action of the sea and the wind.
Azenhas do Mar
  • 20m
Last but not least (beach)... A real illustrated postcard, Azenhas do Mar takes us by surprise with its geographical location, the houses cascading down the cliff slope to the sea, bathed in an idyllic white light. It is one of bathers’ most sought-after beaches, with an ocean swimming pool that delights visitors. There is no sand above 30 metres, and it may disappear completely during high tides. Over the last decades, the former fishing village has become a summer retreat and a quiet inspiration for many painters such as Júlio Pomar, Emílio da Paula Campos or Milly Possoz.
