Embark on a captivating walking tour through the UNESCO-listed sites of Ravenna, delving into the narratives behind early Christian monuments. From the mesmerising mosaics of St. Apollinare Nuovo to the grandeur of St. Vitale, each site contributes a unique chapter to Ravenna's rich cultural heritage.
In this tour we are going to visit the following five UNESCO monuments:
- Church of St. Vitale, one of the most impressive surviving example of early Christian Byzantine monument.
- Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, which stands as an exquisite testament to the artistry of early Christian craftsmen, showcasing exceptional designs.
- Church of St. Apollinare Nuovo, originally erected as a palatine church for the king of Goths.
- Archbishop's Chapel, the sole surviving example of an early Christian archbishop's chapel that has arrived intact to the present day.
- Neonian Baptistery, one of the best-preserved examples of a baptistery from 5th century, adorned with breathtaking mosaics.
