What you can expect
Prepare for an epic day trip from Aswan to Luxor's most iconic sites including the Valley of the Kings, Karnak and Luxor Temples, the Temple of Hatshepsut, and Colossi of Memnon. Take to the sky on a sunrise hot air balloon ride and cruise the Nile on a felucca ride - all this in one incredible day.
After pick-up from your Aswan hotel, travel the 3 hours to Luxor in a private air-conditioned vehicle. Relax in comfort as you travel to explore the most important historical monuments in Luxor.
Upon arrival in Luxor, your private Egyptologist guide greets you at a café where you can try the local tea. Rise above it all on a hot air balloon ride over the west bank of Luxor as the sun rises. Enjoy the peace and tranquility as you quietly drift over the archaeological sites below.
With your feet back on the ground, head to the Valley of the Kings to explore 3 important tombs. Decorated throughout with walls full of hieroglyphs, feel fully immersed in the world of Ancient Egypt as you learn about their beliefs in the afterlife.
Staying on the west bank, your next stop is the infamous Temple of Hatshepsut. The temple consists of three floors with open balconies built of limestone, featuring statues of the god Osiris and Queen Hatshepsut. She was the only female pharaoh in Ancient Egypt.
Visit the Valley of the Workers at Deir el-Medina, where workers on the royal tombs would live. Here you can see the Temple of Deir el-Medina, which was dedicated to the goddess Hathor. This is the only temple in Egypt where you can see carvings of the Final Judgement.
See the mortuary temple of Amenhotep III at the Colossi of Memnon, then stop for lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, there is time to enjoy a felucca ride on the Nile River before crossing to the east bank.
Head to Karnak Temple, the largest temple in Luxor, dedicated to the god Amun and his family. Walk along the avenue of sphinxes to enter the UNESCO World Heritage-listed temple where you are greeted by towering columns and decorated walls.
Started by Amenhotep III and completed by Ramses II, Luxor Temple is your next stop. Though smaller than Karnak Temple, the impressive site is no less intriguing. With massive statues of Ramses II flanking the entrance, the imposing temple speaks to the pharaoh's great power.
At the end of your day trip in Luxor, return to your Aswan hotel or you can choose to stay in Luxor if you are travelling onwards from there.
