Finally, we came to Kinrin Lake, the most famous lake in Yufuin. Kinrin Lake was originally named "Yuemoto Pond" or "Yuexia Pond" because it is located at the foot of Yufu Mountain.
In 1884, a Confucian scholar named Mao Likongsang saw the scales of the fish in the lake shimmering with golden light under the setting sun and named it "Golden Scale Lake".
Hot springs gush out from the west of the lake bottom, while clear water gushes out from the east.
