Travel south to the Nabatean Red Rose City of Petra, which is considered one of the world's wonders. A city 139 miles (225 kilometres) from Amman that was carved in stone over 2000 years ago in order to dominate ancient Arabia's trade routes. Visit its towns, dams, and water channels, and take a walk along the narrow siq, which serves as the city's main entrance. The first thing you'll notice is the Khazneh, which was thought to be a burial site for one of the Nabatean Kings. Other monuments to be seen include the Monastery and the Altar of Sacrifice. In the afternoon, you will travel to Wadi Rum, also known as the Valley of the Moon, where Lawrence of Arabia and, more recently, The Martian was filmed. Spend the night in Wadi Rum before heading to the Dead Sea the next day.
