Marvel at medieval monuments, ancient structures and archaeological ruins in this picturesque and impeccably preserved Greek town.

At the top of a steep rocky peak is the ancient acropolis of Lindos, where fortifications, churches, homes and temples testify to the civilizations that once lived here. Below it, the whitewashed town, with its sun-bleached buildings, winding alleyways and lively tavernas, spills over the rocky mountain slope. Check out the stunning vistas from the ancient acropolis, wander the labyrinthine town and lounge on sparkling beaches.

Historic Lindos town is characterized by twisting narrow roads, arched entrances, churches and ancestral houses. Stroll through the sprawling village and lose yourself in the maze of streets, which were deliberately designed to confuse pirates. Lindos was once a chief naval power and many of the original navel houses can still be seen. Admire exquisite architecture and medieval frescoes in the 15th-century Virgin Mary of Lindos Church. The town is also home to ancient burial grounds, such as the Kleovoulos Tomb and the Hellenistic Archokrateio burial site.

The jewel of the town is the Lindos Acropolis, which stands almost 328 feet (100 metres) above sea level. This extraordinary archaeological site dates back to the fourth century B.C. Enter to see the Greek Orthodox Church of St. John and the Castle of the Knights of St. John. Walk under the Hellenistic stoa and the sheltered walkway to the upper level. Here lies the Propylea (gateways), the Doric Temple of Athena and the open courtyard. Stop at the highest point for sweeping views of the Aegean Sea. Beneath the temple is the Amphitheatre, which is a wonderful place to watch the sun rise or set.

After a day of sightseeing, unwind at one of the beaches of Lindos Bay. As the sun starts to set, the town’s rooftop bars, tavernas and waterfront restaurants turn into lively places to enjoy an evening meal and a cool drink.

"Bitterly disappointed with the lack of communication. Understand that priorities would have been with dealing with the wildfires that we’re getting close to this villa, however two days before travelling were told via Expedia that they were not able to accept us at the property and to contact them ..."
