"good for family gathering"

"I enjoyed staying here, but there are some things that can be improved. The air filter in the bathroom had not been cleared in a really long time, if ever. No one has dusted behind the TV in quite some time. I stayed for two weeks, but was only given 1 role of toilet paper and a meager amount of dish soap. The lighting outside is very dim and I was worried about slipping when come back in the evening when it had rained. It would also be helpful to have instructions in English for the appliances....

"Good location and place, but bad customer service. Clean place with beds, kitchenette, shower, and washing machine. A major hiccup - bad customer service. Unmanned accommodation, so had to contact customer service via the tablet in the lobby entrance for any issue. No hot water for shower on winter night. "This property has no staff onsite. So you have no ability to leave luggage before check in or after checkout, so you have to use the lockers at the train station. Email on entry was confusing and required a call. I observed similar struggles with other guests. Checkin is all via keypad. Room was a nice size, had a kitchen, and sitting area (cushions were stained). Location to the train station was nice, but it is not bar any hot springs or other attractions. "

"Great location if you’re visiting Hyotan Onsen etc. En-suite showers are a little small, and the hot water isn’t very hot (which is strange for a hotel with a hot spring). Not a big deal though because you could just go downstairs and shower in the on site hot spring. The Rooms had a great view of the city and the sea. Overall pretty decent place."

"Very special property that we loved. We stayed in January and esp loved the onsen and subfloor heating. Check in was easy enough because there was the option of online pre-registration. The road to the house was windy but not too bad - note that the GPS in the rental car may not show you the way. We used Google maps and got there without difficulty. We were thankful to have a 4WD and snow tires, because there was ice on parts of the road. Highly recommend the place!"

"温泉は凄く気持ちよく◎です！近隣の窓から浴室丸見えの点は...ですが... 掃除は綺麗にされていました！食器なども揃っていて、良かったです！一軒家なので子連れには最高でした！住宅地ななので、道が狭かったです。また、エアコン(テレビの部屋)が壊れているのか、タイマーのランプが点滅して1時間程で切れてしまいます。また、あり🐜がでます。リビング横の畳の部屋で寝たのですが、起きたらアリがわんさか... ビックリでした。 "

"pros : cheap and clean cons : • this was by far my worst experience in Japan during my one month stay. When I booked (one day before my planned check-in), the manager demanded to know at what time I was planning to check in. I was surprised but happily obliged and gave him/her the precise time (4 pm). You get to book 2 sessions at the baths after checked in, the semi open bath on the 2nd level is popular, while the rooftop bath may not be a good idea in cold weather although the view is great. You get free use of the bicycles for your stay. There is no lift so you have to carry your luggages up and down the stairs."

"My husband and I had an incredible time visiting such a special place as a part of our honeymoon. The food is the best food we have ever been served at a ryokan. The chef is so incredible at creating unique and innovative kaiseki by bringing in flavors outside of those found in traditional Japanese set dinners. Eating at Bettei Itsuki transformed and redefined what we thought kaiseki could be. Additionally, the staff here truly go above and beyond to make your stay incredible. We were met with kindness for everything and truly felt taken care of during our stay. Irina was an incredible hostess during our meals, and every member of the staff was so professional. "

"Lovely accommodation. Staff were all very friendly and welcoming, the room was spacious and the half board food was mostly fantastic. We opted for a private room so we had our own onsen. This was our first and only onsen experience so I can't really make any comparisons but it was seriously fantastic. Nice and hot, very private and clean. Loved it. Location was a bit of a trek from the train station but worth it - the walk is enjoyable and you can easily cut through along the river once you're checked in to reach the main strip of the town a bit quicker which is also a great walk."

Enjoyable stay.

"Comfortable stay at Baien resort and walking distance 10 mins to the lake and shopping trip. Took a taxi from Yufuin station and cost JPY800. We enjoyed our stroll and admiring the autum foliage while walking out to the lake. It has 2 nice private onsens and 1 separate public onsen for male and female. Dinner and breakfast were delicious, staff are friendly. Recommended and enjoyable stay. "
