Lovely little property located in a quaint village:) Staff members were super friendly on arrival and the whole check in/out process was smooth. The property has a lot of charm but needs a little tlc. The bathroom is basic and shower not great but the rest of the facilities in the room were good. The bed was a little on the hard side and very squeaky. Overall a good stay and for what we paid we were happy :) thank you x

Lovely property and lovely staff at pub. Great food and drink and very friendly service. Amazing value stay. Unfortunately heavy rain the night we stayed led to some leaks in property and bubbling drains in early hours of morning which hopefully can be fixed soon. Bad luck for us but otherwise would have been great.

Amazing unusual cottage
Amazing cottage with double bed on mezzanine floor accessible by staircase. Not suitable for persons with accessibility problems. Bed is near to wall with low headroom on one side. We had no problems. Kitchen and downstairs toilet/sink/shower room. Plenty of hot water. Milk and butter in fridge. Tea, coffee provided. All crockery, pans, tea towels, towels, dressing gowns etc clean. Kitchen cupboards a little dusty. We had to arrive late and leave early so no breakfast and didn't go into the pub. Would we stay again? Yes

We had a pleasant stay - the property is honest and clean, the shower could be better but we enjoyed the property. The adjacent pub was really friendly, served good honest food and we were made to feel welcome. The property and the food are excellent value for money. The nearby designer shopping village as very easy to get to and it only cost £5.50 for 2 people to park and ride to nearby York city centre

Overall Good Stay
Amazing little cottage. We struggled to get the fire to light, the shower had low water pressure (not their fault) few of the bits were unfinished, was a little dirty under the sink. However.... left us with Milk, bread, eggs, tea bags, sugar, butter. Sofa and bed was comfortable. We will be staying there again hopefully on our next trip to york. Pub closes quite early next door so dont 100% rely on getting there at 10pm and getting food, but Uber Eats works well there. Overall a solid 9/10 from me.

Cold when we arrived but soon warmed up. Nice size apartment, very nice to have milk, bread, eggs and butter in the kitchen for us to use. Easy walk to the bus stop for the bus to York, and we also had a nice meal in the Blacksmith arms. Thank you

Perfect Retreat for Dog Owners
The cottage is quirky and my little dog loved it. The village is pretty and the hotel next door serves nice food. The cottage has everything you need but an investment in a new bed and sofa would be chef’s kiss.

Good location- needed some tender loving care
Bed was very uncomfortable Layer of dust under bed . Only one bedside table Two seater sofa was very worn Shower room must have had new toilet cistern and wasn’t painted up to new. Shower pressure bad Kitchen smelt and just not up to date! Whole cottage full of spiders webs. Couldn’t use small table and chairs as they were not safe- not screwed together properly. Small TV was damaged. It was lovely to have bread , eggs , butter and small jug of milk so thank you for that.

Short break. Lovely cosy cottage
Just spent a lovely few days in the Blacksmiths Cottage. We had a Lovely welcome from Fay the housekeeper who keeps the cottage spotless. Plenty hot water, comfy bed and all you need for a stay here. Sadly pub wasn't open for 2 of the days but we had the beer garden to ourselves 😊. Had a lovely meal on our last night cooked by Gary who was very welcoming and friendly. Thanks Gary. Tom, behind the bar was so nice and very pleasant. Great base for touring around this part of Yorkshire. Thanks guys..... Liz and Dave
