Pleasant and young staff were welcoming and eager to assist. Good location, great view of Shwedagon Pagoda and the surrounds from the rooftop terrace. Generous breakfast buffet, though selection is limited. Excellent local restaurants within walking distance (e.g., Hla Myanmar, Aung Thuka), as well as more international fare (Chinese, Japanese, etc.). Always entertaining walking down to Shwedagon Pagoda's bustling eastern approach.
I stayed in a room without a window. The bedsheets were clean, but still showed old stains. The small window in the bathroom didn't have a screen, so mosquitoes were a nuisance. Wifi was usually around 20-40KB/s down, just fast enough for e-mail and loading web pages without many images. The bathroom had its own instant water heater, with good water pressure. The building is a bit ramshackle - nails in the floorboards and walls (I assume) squeaked loudly and persistently when people upstairs moved around. The A/C wall-unit often wouldn't respond to the remote control (electrical interference?). The mini-refrigerator came in handy for keeping beverages chilled. It was nice having coat hangers.
Note: On-line maps may not show the correct location - the hotel is almost due north from Shwedagon Pagoda, up a small street off Shwegondine Rd, across from New Yay Ta Shay St (coming from the south) - a local landmark for taxis might be the large Yuzana Hotel across the road - start there and look to the west for the "NGF" sign out by the street.
