"We stayed the night when attending a show at the Anvil. The hotel was convenient for the town centre restaurants and the theatre. The hotel has free parking. Our room was spotless and clearly recently renovated. Other rooms had workmen replacing bathrooms, so the hotel Is being smartened up. The bed was comfortable, and the room warm. Reception staff were helpful. Overall, for the price we paid, it was excellent value for money and we will definately use again. We didnt stay for breakfast, so cant comment on food."

"I chose the hotel because of its superb location, in-between the cathedral and the High Street. It was an added bonus to discover that it's a lovely hotel in other ways. I would particularly mention the (predominantly young) staff, who were super-helpful and friendly. Some reviews suggested the decor was a bit tired, and in a few places perhaps a bit of redecoration would not come amiss, but overall I loved the interior, full of interesting and welcoming spaces (and including some striking Modernist stained glass in the foyer). Breakfast and dinner were excellent. I would strongly recommend this hotel to anyone planning to visit Winchester."
