"Beautiful property! The staff is amazing and spoiled us. It was difficult to come back to reality. It’s secluded, this is a good place to rest and get away from the daily grind. We stayed in Room 3 with a mini pool on the balcony. It could use a little more privacy. Also, we stayed over a holiday weekend in Portugal and several families with young children came. It was nice but got loud. "

"A very old and tired hotel. Room had not been aired for a long time so smelled damp and musty - I had to open the window as soon as I entered the room. Old furniture, old and dilapidated bathroom / shower. Span and gym not available. Swimming pool available but costs €18 for a swim! I dont expect to pay as a guest of the hotel. Breakfast OK - coffee cold."

"Casa de Canilhas is a tucked away treasure in the heart of the Douro valley. A bit hard to find at first but once you're there it's worth a visit. There are no common indoor areas so you stay in your room or on a private terrace but can share the gorgeous outdoor pool. Breakfast is served to you in your room. Unfortunately, there was work being done in the building next to my casita: the noise and radio started at 8 AM which detracted from the peace and magic of the area"

"This property is amazing! It reminds me of something out of a fairy tale. Our room was unique and beautifully decorated. The staff was exceptional. She told us about the history of the property, showed us to our room and made our dinner reservations at a wonderful local restaurant. And then there was breakfast, which was just fabulous.
