"We enjoyed our stay at the hotel and it was good for our 3 nights. The room was small but comfortable. For older, less able, folks it was a steep walk up to the main streets of Valletta. The best features of the hotel were a good breakfast (included) and the amazing view from the roof-top balcony."

"The hosts were good at communicating ahead of time. When I arrived I was met promptly and shown a room different from my booking (3rd floor, not first floor). They then tried to charge me an additional and previously unmentioned cleaning fee (which I did not pay). The hot tub in the basement was not hot. It was an unheated tub of water, and while there were jets, there was no way to make it warm. This was my most expensive accommodation in Malta, and I choose it for the hot tub, so to discover...

"Casa Ellul is a small gem with an excellent restaurant. The chef was able to devise an outstanding dinner for us based on our vegan requirements. The staff were extraordinarily helpful, even coming around a tea time with treats. The location is in the historic part of Valleta but is still very quiet. Recent renovations have restored the character of the building with a modern touch. "

"Great location, very spacious, basic amenities bring your own soap, good wifi, very strict on departure time 10:00 am on Sunday morning a bit too harsh - especially when next checkin at 14:00, no reception or any message how we check in so we were quite uneasy how to get access!!!"

"It's on a busy restaurant street. If you are facing that road be ready for noise (either from diners / happy go lucky folks in the evening / night time as well as cleaners / garbage collectors in the morning hours. The windows don't really noise insulate well. Staff are generally friendly. Good location in old town. More of a 3* hotel than 4* but I think this star inflation is common in Malta. "
