When this was pointed out he just asked if I had a booking - if not then this was the only price available. I refused to pay extra, went online and booked through an agency for the advertised price and went to the desk again with my booking confirmation. He slapped the paperwork, passport and room key on the desk, pointed to the sky and turned his back on...

"The hotel is in a very tranquil, country setting but not far from Bilbao. It is an old house that has been beautifully restored in a rustic manner. The lady, who seemed to do everything, was very kind and helpful. My room was clean and comfortable with a very modern shower. The evening meal and breakfast were plentiful and good quality. The only negative thing was that there was no lift and the stairs were quite steep."
