  • Jagdish Temple is one of the famous temples of Udaipur. Located in the City Palace complex of Udaipur, this temple is made in the Indo-Aryan style of architecture. In 1651, Jagdish temple was built by Maharana Jagat Singh, who ruled Udaipur during 1628-53. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu (Laxmi Narayan), the preserver of the Universe. It is celebrated for being the largest temple in the city of Udaipur. The gateway of this temple can be sited at a distance of 150 meters from the Bara Pol of the City Palace. This three-storied temple is a wonder of architecture that comprises beautifully carved pillars, decorated ceilings, painted walls and lush halls. In those times, 1.5 million rupees were spent to raise this structure. The spire of the main temple is around 79 feet high that undoubtedly dominates the skyline of Udaipur. This shikhar (spire) is festooned with sculptures of dancers, elephants, horsemen and musicians making it truly a sight to behold. As and when you approach the temple, you will be welcomed by two huge stone elephants at the entrance. On the very front of the temple, you would find a stone slab that is imprinted with the inscriptions with reference to Maharaja Jagat Singh. To reach the main shrine, you have to take a marble flight of 32 steps. Here, you will find a brass image of Garuda, a figure of half-man and half-eagle. This huge idol stands as if; it is guarding the doorway of Lord Vishnu.

A beautiful Haveli just behind the palace with a great roof top restaurant with great views. The food is excellent. The staff are really helpful and polite. The Haveli is just a short walk from the place, old town and the lake side. We really enjoyed our stay here.

This is a beautiful boutique hotel with spacious grounds and rooms tastefully decorated. It is an oasis of quiet in a noisy city. Breakfast on the rooftop is a great way to start the day.

Lovely hotel tucked away behind the City Palace. Amazing location and walkable to all the close tourist spots (or easy to pick up an Otto/ Tuk Tuk). Room was great and very comfortable. Staff and service let the hotel down a bit. Everything was very slow, staff didn’t seem very friendly and food was very average unfortunately.

Amazing hotel!

Can’t say enough nice things about this place! The staff was so friendly and accommodating. We liked the candy at the front desk, and one of the staff arranged to have some ordered for us and delivered to our room! We took the Breakfast Tour with Ravi, which was super fun and tasty! The rooftop pool that looks out at the palace is so serene—we spent hours relaxing in the pool and taking it in. The restaurant was great as well. The location is fantastic, and it was clean and well maintained. We have traveled all over the world, and this is one of the best places we have ever stayed, dollar for dollar.

The hotel was in a suitable, historic style for its location and purpose. Facilities and services were good. Let down by minor faults, e.g. the confusing locations of light and other switches, some poor finishing of work around the fittings and decor, etc.

Amazing hotel! Would have stayed longer if I could have. A little gem within the chaos of the city. Well located ( although not properly indicated on Google causing issues with taxi) Surprisingly quiet considering the noisy roads around. Beautiful building Great room. Comfortable. Appreciate the roomy shower and the window bench in the room. Tasty breakfast Pool with the view of the city palace.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this hotel Recently refurbished to a high standard. Staff attentive and very helpful. Particularly enjoyed the musicians in the evenings and also at breakfast. Ate in the restaurant on several occasions and food was very good. The manager Mr Deepak Devpura made a point of asking each day, how my stay was going. He and his team made my stay so enjoyable. Give this place a try, i dont think you will regret it

Avoid right side of hotel, at least

Bad smell from bathroom and minimal natural light, and rattling noise from suitcases rolling along serrated ramps (Room 210), and poor English among front staff, made this a place we won't return to.
