Traditional Japanese Inn - in good and bad ways.
A friend and I stayed at this inn during a busy holiday weekend when we couldn't get a place closer to Kanazawa. It's a traditional Japanese inn, meaning you sleep on the tatami mat floor on futons. Theres no bathroom in your room, but down the hall, and it's only toilets and sink basins. For your shower or bath you have to go down to the main bath which is segregated by men and women. It's open from 3 o'clock in the afternoon until 9 o'clock the following morning, but where is no place to shower when it's not open. The locks on the sliding doors to the rooms are nit great, and this is not a problem in regards to security or safety, but more of a problem in regards to privacy. Traditional inn workers have no problem entering your room while you're in there, to tell you it's time for your bath or to clean your room or to tell you it's time for breakfast. This is really annoying, and when the worker came in our room to clean, we didn't want her to clean the room (we were napping) and even though I speak Japanese and asked her to leave she wouldn't. I got pretty irritated.
They have a nice breakfast for about ¥1300 in the morning down in a small restaurant. You have to order the night before. The Bath at the inn is heated by wood fire, which is really unusual and cool. It's a traditional bath, where you wash first and then get in the tub to soak. All in all I would recommend the inn, even though there were some negatives.
