"Beautiful property, staff were very friendly and attentive. Only negative is that the Brasserie dining area lacks character, the decor is more fitting for a cafeteria, not a lovely historic property. Food was good, but not great."

"Clean room and bathroom was super tidy. It was flawless. Decent space and standard layout. Was dog friendly. Shower was nice and powerful. One of the bedside small lights didn’t work. Maybe needed a bulb changing. Nice to have some coffee with the kettle in the room. "

"We really enjoyed our one night weekend stay. The hotel is set in lovely grounds- Reception staff very friendly. We enjoyed a large room overlooking the grounds. Great bar and dining experience. The Spa facilities were an added bonus. We would definitely revisit if in the area. "

"I stayed at the MacDonald Portal overnight to attend Oulton Park raceway the following day. There’s ample, secure parking (inc EV chargers) the hotel is nicely appointed, the rooms are spacious and very comfortable. The beds are superb. All the staff we’re more than helpful and the restaurant food was delicious. I will definitely start again in the future and can’t recommend it enough. (Must remember to bring swimming trunks next time too!)"
