Five or six major productions are usually offered during the regular season of the theater. This renowned theater in Albany occupied different downtown sites for 30 years, before finding and acquiring the John A. Davis House in 1964 for its permanent residence. The house is also known as Albany Little Theatre and is a beautiful building with elegant white columns. It was built around the year 1853 as an Italianate villa. It previously had a central brick tower flanked by one-story wooden porches and had a small theater added to the house in the 1960s. See this important landmark, which earned a designation on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1980. This register is an official list from the United States federal government of buildings, sites, structures, objects and districts that are considered worthy of preservation for future generations to enjoy.
