"Beautifully maintained older home. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. It was situated between Summertown and the city centre, and about 15 minutes walk to both. We arrived after 6:00 but instructions were sent for easy entry. The room was unlocked and keys left on the bed, with necessary information. It was too cold to eat breakfast outside but garden looked lovely for warmer weather. Would be happy to stay here again."

"The hotel is smack in the middle of the city and a short walk to bot the train station and the main bus terminal. Although George street has deteriorated in the last years, the hotel is across from the theatre so it is lively and feels more or less safe. Cafe on the left. Two nice pubs on the right. "

"The location of this hotel in the heart of Oxford is why I picked this hotel. Overall, a nice and comfortable stay in a pleasant and clean room. It's a small hotel on one of Oxford's main streets next to some of the prominent universities and sights to visit. No restaurant, but a discount offered in a cafe next to the property. "

"Great accommodation. Very interesting & feels very unique. Standard of refurb is very high. We stayed in the house of corrections. Very comfy, warm & quiet. Great staff, very friendly & alway there to help. We arrived earlier than our check in time & we were allowed in check in early which was great! Walking distance to Oxford centre, with lots of shop & lively pubs/restaurants. "

We love the Vanbrugh House Hotel

"We arrived at the Vanbrugh House Hotel for our anniversary expecting our standard double room booking and what we paid for. They surprised us with an upgrade at no extra cost to the Vicarage Suite which was absolutely phenomenal. We had two baths and a shower, multiple sofas with a huge kingsize bed along with chocolates and a bottle of prosecco in ice. We can't recommend this hotel enough. The suite even included its own private garden! "
