"The location was great, easy 5 min walk to subway and bus. Only 15 mins to market and shopping. The room was comfortable and a good size for Japanese standards. It is nice to have a kitchenette and there was free water. We only received 1 towel each and had to ask for extra towels which was not a problem. I asked for an extra pillow and they did not have any, that is a first and very unfortunate since it made my sleeping less comfortable."

"This place was a great find. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They received our luggage and had it waiting in our room for us when we arrived. This was more like an apartment, so we had 2 bedrooms, with 2 large beds in each room, that could be shut off from the main area. There was a living room, full kitchen, and dining area. "This was a small (typical of Japan) but cozy place. It had everything that we needed (e.g., fridge, ac, oven, microwave, washer) and we enjoyed our 4-nights stay. The weekend price was a bit higher than what I expected and there was no black tea. Otherwise, everything was great. "

"I loved this hotel. I didnt have a single problem with this property. I accidentally showed up to check in an hour late and they didnt give me an issue about it. Its in a great location and is close to public transportation. The room was clean, spacious and had everything you could need in a hotel room. Very happy with this pick"

"Run down, moldy and extremely dusty Machiya! Do not stay here for your own health, we went straight to bed without checking the place as we checked in at 6pm and we were tired but we kept waking up choking and coughing, we looked arond and saw the black mold in the black room and the dust on all the beams. Hotels . Com should not be advertising this hotel and the pictures are YEARS out of date. If you stay here you will get ill, be aware."

"Incredible property. Perfect for larger groups (mine had 6). You get the whole building to yourself and it’s separated by bathroom (which has a private Onsen), bed rooms, and living room. There were some minor issues but the host was very communicative and quick to fix such as a toilet not flushing or soap dispensers being empty. Overall fantastic stay"

"This was a spacious, comfortable and unique property in a good location. It was immaculately clean. There is a Lawson store next door and a number of good restaurants nearby. It is in walking distance to the Heian Shrine and Nanzenji Temple. Bus stops are just outside and subway stations are very close. "I loved this hotel! It is within walking distance of a train station where you can easily get to the Kyoto station. The hotel is around a nice quiet area, and it is very aesthetically pleasing. The only thing was thay out our room was "non-smoking" but there was still a lingering cigarrette smell, but overall I would definitely stay here again. "
