Detailed review for an overnight stay
Pros: >Reception is open 24/7 >Very accomodating: I booked a different room by mistake and they were so kind to let me stay at the room that I want >Service is great: Had to leave my things before my check out time and just came back to pick them up Cons: >Location is a bit far from the main road >Room AC for the ladies dorm is a bit noisy and turned off on its own >No hanger can be provided for the dorm per receptionist >Cannot connect to wifi inside the room I only stayed overnight at the dorm room for ladies and was the only one occupying the room.

Would stay again
We stayed in a private room near the common area. Plenty of space and the room was very clean given the price. WiFi was decent but seemed to be spotty throughout the city. Also, we ran out of water. However, this is a common occurrence in several areas throughout PI and not just to TR3ATS Hostel. They were prepared for this with buckets so you could still take a shower - was my first bucket shower of the trip but turned out well. Rented a scooter through the hostel as well, very convenient.

The facilities are fine enough, but you’re a long walk to and from the pier, downtown, restaurants, stores, etc. The staff is not rude, and they will answer your questions or serve you, but seem to not want to.

Room for improvement
Staff were extremely unhelpful, and the water supply was very bad. The staff need to be more accommodating in booking taxis and renting motorbikes. A lot of ants in the room!

Good place to stay for 1 night. Probably wouldn’t do it for more than 2. There was sewage smell coming out of the sink so it wasn’t pleasant when brushing your teeth. It does have a nice big pool though.

Budget friendly dormitel
The place was clean. The staffs were accomodating. Thay have hot/cold shower. I definitely recommend this if you're looking for a budget friendly accomodation and if you're okay to stay in a dorm room with other guests. If not, they also have private rooms. The only downfall is the loud noise coming from the AC and the bad/slow wifi connection. But overall, i had a great time staying there! :)

Not worth it
When I arrived, the power was out. I just booked earlier that day, so they should have said something before I paid for the room. Luckily it came back on a few hours later, but the two girls on staff are the two laziest people in the Philippines. Anything you ask for, their response is "no, I'm sorry, no", even though they can physically do what you ask. Wifi was the worst! It kicks you out every 10 minutes and makes you sign back in. I asked the girls to fix that, but of course they said no. They also absolutely refuse to cal you a taxi to the airport. Lazy. Won't stay there again.

Ok budget stay
Ok for one night on a budget. Looks better from outside than in rooms. Our room was cramped with a leak from the aircon dripping onto the floor. Staff were pleasent but not particularly helpful.

Bias/ unfair / I HATE THIS PLACE
We booked early and paid online to make sure our reservation and to make sure that we would have a comfortable stay in bohol. We arrived early at around 4am in the hotel and we decided to leave things first in the said guest house then we travel around bohol. They are fully aware that we booked a superior room where we expect the best that they have. We were also advise to comeback at 2pm since that is their check in time. When we arrived at around 1:30pm, we were told that hotels.com had an error and that there was an overbooking so we were down graded to a bank bed type with no private CR and double bed. They even told us "since we would stay for only a night" thats why they gave us that room instead. Isnt it unfair? That just because you wont stay there for a long period of time that others deserve a better place than you? You should treat your guests equally and remember that first come first serve. Its not only them who can afford to pay. Personally i want to transfer to another place since i dont like what they gave us, but i have no choice since we already paid online and we would be the ones who will have problems on how we refund the payment. So we decided to take the room. Note: they also have problems with their water supply, the front desk said that that occasional. I hate them for making my bohol trip unpleasing and bad, they made everything uncomfortable.

Great place to stay for the price
I stayed in the 6 bed dorm room for 3d/2n and had a pleasant stay. The staff was nice, the bed was clean/comfortable, and the bathrooms were in good working order. They provide you with a key to a lockable cabinet that's a decent size. There's not much to see or do in the surrounding area so I advise renting a motorbike, which you can do with them. All their motorbikes were rented when I arrived so I went with Hey Joe Motor Bike Rental who delivered it to the hostel in about an hour (I highly recommend them!)

Economical choice\Alona Beach and exploring Bohol
The ferries from Cebu to Tagblarian are always a risk. On an earlier visit, the ferries were not running as to weather, on this trip the ferry broke down just short of the port and turned back to Cebu. Air Transport is not easy as Manila is the hub, and unless traveling from Manila, not a viable option. Tr3ats offers a relatively new structure, offering both hostel group rooms and a few "superior" rooms. I have always stayed in the superior rooms, of which offerer a 3-4" foam mattress covered double bed with a flat sheet covering and just a double flat sheet or two twin flat sheets as covering, a window type AC unit and a next to shower hot water unit which has never worked on all my visits. No hot water is a deal breaker for most western travelers and this time I figured out it is not the water pressure but that the shower wands are clogged due to hard water. I showed the management the problem and suggested soaking the wands in vinegar or making larger holes in the wand. I simply just screwed off the wand, as I don't go without a hot shower. They also offer old scooters for rent, I paid 600p a year ago and 350p a day this year but they hit me up for a flat charge, which I did not witness, but paid, none-the-less... The standard of business is much different in the Philippines, so it goes with the territory, does not make it right, just beware... they will make an attempt at every opportunity to make a quick buck from a tourist. Never eat uncooked vegies!!! NEVER!

Among the best quality places at the hostel level
This is a basic hostel, so the accommodations are of course hostel-like, and therefore not posh by any means, but the hostel is very clean and modern, which sets it above numerous other places I've crashed at in the past. It's only about a ten-minute walk away from the city, where you can catch a tricycle or jeepney, get food, visit bars, or go shopping. The neighborhood is actually very residential, but it's well-cared-for residential. As a female, I still felt comfortable walking around at night.

Nice but be prepared to get not much sleep
Clean rooms, friendly staff, overall it could have been a nice stay if the other guest (philippino families) who stayed in the rooms next to us would have been a bit more patient. Loud talking, smashing doors about every two minutes, shifting things and their kids where knocking on the walls, screaming and stomping, continuesly running over the floor from one room to the other. It wouldn't have been a problem during the day, but this happend every day from 04:30am onwards, as well as from 9pm till 01:30 am in the morning...We mentioned it to the staff and they said they'll talk to them, but nothing changed...

A great stay for the price.
There are many things that I would like to talk about Tr3ats. I'll try to compress them in just a few words. 1. Small but adequate room with a working but not so powerful airconditioning (but it will still make your room cold). 2. Bed linen is too thin and many not provide sufficient warmth during the night. 3. Private restroom is very clean and provides nice warm shower and toilet. 4. A big TV with cable channels. 5. A small and simple lobby with a 50" cable TV, a couch and three small tables with four chairs each. It's always warm there though. 6. All day breakfast is too pricey (P99/US$2+) which include a cup of rice and a choice of eggs and something else (their beef tapa is too tough to be edible, unfortunately) 7. Staff is mostly friendly and smiling. It is very easy for one to make rapport with them. 8. Free access to a pool just outside but don't expect it to be too fancy. CONCLUSION: For travelers who are not very picky but still puts cleanliness, facilities and value for money a high priority but will mostly spend their time outside discovering Bohol, Tr3ats is a GREAT place to stay. However, I personally suggest that you should just get a nice hotel in one of the beaches in Pangalao island (just a bridge from Tagbilaran City) since TAG doesn't really offer anything except that it is nearer to the Chocolate Hills and other places compared to the beaches of Pangalao. But an hour of extra ride save is not really worth it.
