Enter the venue and take your place in the 50-seat auditorium, which has a stage framed by stone arches. If the weather allows, your show may take place in the tablao’s patio courtyard. Nine artists take the stage to bring the art form to life. You’ll learn about cante (singing), toque (guitar playing) and baile (dancing). Feel the rhythm as you’re taken through palmas (hand clapping) and pitos (finger snapping). Watch in awe as the dancers in traditional dress take the stage and begin their highly technical and passionate performance. Lightning-quick footwork is combined with dramatic poise. Listen as the guitarists demonstrate the array of techniques used to create the flamenco sound. The artists’ repertoire includes a range of styles within flamenco, such as fandangos, bulerías, soléa and alegrías. Tablao Flamenco El Cardenal is located within Córdoba’s labyrinthine Old Town. Reach the venue from the city’s main railway station on foot in 15 minutes, but be sure to save some time to relish strolling in the romantic alleys. You can also reach the venue by public bus. Shows run for approximately 90 minutes and are held once per evening. Ticket prices include a drink. Discounts are available for children.
