Shelter Island Heights Holidays

The room was large and the washroom was modern and very clean. The fridge was dirty and the shelves inside were broken. The blinds were broken so we couldn’t darken the room for sleeping. There was no way to contact the front desk, nor the manager by phone in the room- nor was the phone number on the website correct so you physically had to go to the front desk. There were new staff members on the front desk every day- we only saw one person more than once (we stayed 4 nights). There were no facecloths for the first two days- the third day we got some, the fourth nothing. We had lots of towels. The location is fabulous, we felt quite safe. Loads of good food quite close, grand central station only 2 blocks away. Overall the experience was super inconsistent but not the worst place we’ve stayed.

Staff was great. I missed having a clock in the room. The shower walls provided a silhouette into the bedroom of the person taking a shower. Personally, I like more privacy than that. No microwave. No coffee maker. Breakfast served daily was incredible. However, i was disappointed that I couldn’t take a cup of coffee out of the dining room. But, the employees were all very nice.

The hotel is very conveniently located. The room was small but clean and adequate. The staff with whom i dealt were courteous and efficient. Elevators could be full in the mornings.

Great host mixed with great house which results in reasonable price. All in all, great experience.

No towels on day 2,3. Paint falling from bathroom ceiling. Noisy by elevators. Convenient location, friendly staff.
