"We booked the hotel the day of the trip as we had change plans due to Typhoon Haishen. When we entrance to the hotel was blocked with a rope and they did not answer the phone. There was noone to get any information, we did not get a cancellation or a notification. We were left in the typhoon with nowhere to go and struggled to find anything for hours during when the weather got really bad. "Caution to staying here. Pros: almost secluded with nature; very nice storage container changed into a good mobile home stay; self operated. Cons: NO shuttle/taxi/bus services to this lodging. (I even asked the manager/ possibly owner female Japanese woman, if she could give me a ride to the closest bus stop for the airport limousine bus pickup. "If you want both the convenient distance from Kumamoto Castle and the famous Japanese big bath with SAUNA, this is it! They also offer very convenient laundry system at very reasonable (or I'd say too great deal) price which is really helpful when you travel in Japan. The facility is super clean, with cheerful staffs, and we really enjoyed tasty 'Yonaki-soba' (warm noodle service in the evening).Thank you for the memorable stay."

"Quirky and remote property from the Showa era that evokes Ghibli-esque charm. The weather was cold and rainy but our stay at one of the cabins was warm and comfortable. Dinner and breakfast were varied and delicious. Staff spoke English. Highly recommend! "
