Take in breathtaking panoramic views of Port Phillip Bay, the headlands and the Bass Strait while enjoying a ride on the ferry between Sorrento and Queenscliff.

The convenient and scenic Queenscliff-Sorrento Ferry is a vehicular ferry service across the mouth of Port Phillip, with its headquarters at the Searoad Ferry Terminal in Queenscliff. The ferry connects the seaside villages and resorts of the Mornington Peninsula and Phillip Island to Queenscliff, the Bellarine Peninsula and the gateway to the Great Ocean Road. Avoid driving through Melbourne’s city centre and cross the bay with a relaxing and stress-free ferry trip.

Drive your car onto the ferry’s parking decks at either Queenscliff Harbour or Sorrento Pier. Climb up to the upper decks to experience unbeatable views of the bay and surrounding headlands. Take a seat at one of the comfortable lounges and peer out of the ferry’s large windows. Alternatively, wander out onto the open deck and feel the salty wind in your hair as you enjoy stunning views and coastal panoramas.

Spot dolphins and seals playing in the bay. Watch for migratory whales in the colder months. See huge ships navigating Port Phillip’s infamous Rip and spy heritage lighthouses dotted throughout the bayside. Look closely to see Portsea’s opulent mansions, Point Nepean’s ruined fortifications, hundreds of tiny boats moored in the peninsula’s coves and unobstructed outlooks of Melbourne’s coastal areas. If you’d prefer to enjoy your trip in comfort, stop by the RORO Onboard Café and enjoy a hot drink or light snack as you watch the beautiful bay go by.

Two large ferries cross the bay between Queenscliff and Sorrento every hour from 7:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., seven days a week, year-round. The crossing time is 45 minutes and pre-bookings are not required, however it is recommended that you arrive 20 minutes early if you have a vehicle. The ferry is wheelchair accessible. Fares for foot passengers are inexpensive, but extra fees apply for cars, motorbikes, caravans and trailers. Bicycles can be brought on board free of charge.

The Searoad Ferry Terminal at Queenscliff is located at Queenscliff’s picturesque harbour, a short distance from Queenscliff Train Station. While at the Queenscliff Harbour, stop by the RORO Beach Café located within the terminal for refreshments and explore the Queenscliffe Maritime Museum.
