"So, I want to be careful when writing this review. I’m not going to slam this place and say it’s total junk. It’s not. It is also not for anyone fancy, or anyone looking to enjoy a place near Sámara, and treat it as a home base. We stayed one night, and that was it. Carlos is a wonderful man who seems to be the manager. Very sweet, and you can tell he maintains the grounds and pool. "Was tricky to find without a map or GPS. Beautiful little cottage (2 on the property) with 2 BRs, bathroom, living/dining room, and kitchen. Nice outdoor space and chairs and umbrella to take to the beach."

"Staying at Hacienda La Norma has been such a pleasure! From the beautiful, well-appointed and thought out rooms and property, to the great restaurant, beautiful pool, and, most importantly, the owners and staff that truly made us feel like family and looked out for our every need. This is not a soulless, corporate hotel chain, but an intimate and homey getaway situated on a gorgeous property and nature all around (seeing the howler monkeys was such a treat!). Horseback riding, ATV tours, and zip line are on the property as well. Just under 15 minutes drive to the closest beach (Playa Avellanas) and about 25 minutes drive to the hustle and bustle of Tamarindo, so you’ll be very well situated without being in the craziness of it all in the bigger towns. We are already planning our next stay! "

"Luis at the front desk is an excellent help. I can’t say enough about how helpful he was with everything. The place is rustic, very much reminds me of the American southwest. It’s a nice place to stay for a day. Beds were like brand new. And they offered a breakfast. Coffee was excellent. "

Boutique eco hotel with fantastic birding

"This was a wonderful stay in a remarkable place. The room was very comfortable with a balcony with a fantastic view. The food was excellent and the staff were really kind. The road there is challenging, and it's remote - you have to eat at the hotel, because there's nowhere else. But it was the highlight of our trip. Secluded, beautiful, comfortable, and great wildlife."

"This was one of our favorite trips ever. The treehouse suites are magical and truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The staff was amazing—I can't say enough about how well we were treated. The food and drinks were of top-notch quality. The views from the suites were wonderful to wake up to and fall asleep to. I could have stayed another month!"

"We were greeted by the property owner carrying an umbrella to our car because of a torrential downpour. He walked us to the room, showed us how to work all the amenities, and then took us to the community kitchen to show us around there. The owner/manager is very friendly and helpful and made us feel completely at ease. His efforts felt super helpful after a long night and nearly full day of travel. 10/10 would easily stay again. "
