With its Submarine Explorer and Rockpool area, SEA LIFE Blackpool is one of the most fascinating and hands-on attractions at the city’s shoreline. Its displays vary from rescued sea turtles and colorful poisonous frogs of the rainforest, to electrifying jelly fish and starfish of the deep blue. Pass through the Ocean Tunnel and be surrounded by sharks, sting rays and other aquatic creatures.
Bring your kids to the Rockpool section, where they can study and even touch the crabs, anemones and cleaner shrimp on display. Learn intriguing facts about hermit crabs and spot the lobsters and octopi in the Atlantic Depths tank. You’ll soon reach the Stingray Adventure exhibit that contains cownose rays, blue spotted stingrays and zebra sharks among other aquatic treasures.
See the orange-and-white clownfish made famous by Finding Nemo and find out about their symbiotic relationship with the anemone. Admire the Disney-esque fish in the Kingdom of the Seahorses tank.
The Submarine Explorer section presents otherworldly animals belonging to the darkest depths of the ocean. Notice the bright hues of the jellyfish, eels and tangs. Arrive in the Rainforest Adventure section for turtles, chameleons and venomous frogs. Here, you’ll also encounter some of the rainforest’s oversized critters, such as praying mantis, giant African land snails and hissing cockroaches.
The aquarium opens daily from morning until late afternoon. Buy tickets online to save on the admission price and get further discounts for kids. Toddlers can enter for free. Consider purchasing the Blackpool Big Ticket that includes entry to the aquarium and a range of other attractions.
SEA LIFE Blackpool is by the beach in the Central Pier district of Blackpool. Ride the tram to the Central Pier stop or take a bus to a station beside the aquarium.
