"The rooms were functional, but the bathroom and toilet and main door locks all needed renovation. Location was excellent just a short 3min walk to the gondola. Food was above normal for a buffet style approach. Pizza was always amazing. They really pulled out all the stops for New Years eve food, with oysters and fillet steak. All inclusive bar options were very good, with the expected exclusions... Most bar staff were brilliant with just one grumpy guy, who we think was the main bar...

"Overall the hotel was average. There were a few things that i really didnt like: Every mug was chipped in multiple places, I didn't find one that was completely in tact. We had 3 people in our room but only given 2 room keys. When I asked for an extra key, I was told that I had to pay €10 for it! My husband then went to ask for an extra key and the price was then €5! "Cogne is simply beautiful. Small enough to be charming, big enough to stay busy and entertained. The Chateau Royal was a great home base. Centrally located, comfortable and we'll equipped. We originally booked two nights but added two more as it was such a great village with so much to do.
