"The hotel itself is lovely. Sadly the dining room and bar are closed but the hotel side is open for business! Clean rooms, comfy bed and delightful host. Breakfast was cooked fresh to order and was perfectly done. Really lovely place to stay to take in the surrounding villages and towns. Peaceful village with cafes "
"It’s a 200 plus year old listed building so a little old fashioned and quirky. I was initially in room 9 but Patricia the owner moved me to room 1 because when the bar is busy at weekends room 9 is pretty noisy until 1130 or so. Room 1is very peaceful.
Excellent food at the Olive Retreat 5 minutes walk away.
Everything you need is close at hand.
The staff are delightful.
If I find myself in the area I would return. "

"Overnight stay. Due to our own problems could not check in arriving after 12mn very good instructions to gain entry and directions to room. Breakfast made to order delicious and plentiful. Hotel is tierd in places but room was modern obviously newly updated. Bed very comfortable family are improving areas all the time. Well worth a visit if you are coming to Castle Douglas."
"Had read good reviews of this hotel, so decided to book and it was great. Was only here 1 night, but would definitely stay again.
Bedroom & bathroom clean and comfortable and a nice comfy bed too. Dinner was great as was breakfast next morning. Staff all friendly, welcoming and helpful.
Easy parking either in dedicated patron’s car park or on street. Great location for exploring the area and Castle Douglas itself is a nice town with lots of independent businesses and plenty cafes, delis etc,
Took a trip to nearby Kirkcudbright in the evening…only 15 minutes away and heading to Threave Gardens…only 5 minutes drive or could even walk it.
All in, a few pleasant days in the area."
"Rooms were very clean and ensuite we only stayed 1 night as a stop over and would use again, a large communal kitchen and tv room even though there were tvs in the rooms, very quiet and relaxung "
"All the staff were lovely. The food was good and the bar was fun. The room was comfortable and quiet although it’s a bit of a maze to get there. Plenty of hot water. Rather creaky bed but okay."
