Great Place to Stay
We stayed for 4 nights mid April 2018. This place is a very good as a base to explore the Roman attractions which is exactly what we wanted. Its a very good B&B. Veronica was a lovely host and greeted us every morning when we had a simple breakfast. There are local restaurants offering 'full breakfasts' if that's your preference. Rooms were very clean, towels changed twice during our visit. This was our first visit to Italy and therefore Rome, so it was an experience getting to the 5th floor of 243 Via Nazionale using the lift !!! :-) 243 Via Nazionale is a very big multi tenanted building - Esedra Inn is on the 5th floor of Block B (of blocks A,B C and D). Colosseum etc is around a 40 minute walk, Trevi Fountain around 15 minutes, Spanish Steps around 25 minutes. All in all a great central place to stay and thanks to Veronica for making us welcome!

Terrible hotel which is falling apart
Upon arrival the lift was out of order and we were told to carry our luggage up 4 floors by a maid who couldn't speak much English. The maid handed me her phone on check in to speak to the manager who said he would arrive in the afternoon (he didn't). We were shown to our room without any explanation how to lock/unlock & access the hotel (there were a bunch of about 5 keys). We had issues locking the room and found it a little odd that the owner seemed to know exactly how to lock/unlock the door which wasn't as simple when we tried. The condition of the room was terrible, everything was pretty much falling apart and held together with tape. We saw the owner once throughout our stay, this was when we requested he come and sort out the security issue with the door. Other than this, there was 1 maid in the morning and throughout the rest of the day nobody on reception. If I was you, I'd spend more money on a better hotel. Esedra Inn spoilt our experience of Rome. We were finally given the option to check out and receive a refund but this was only sorted for our final night and after spending hours on the phone to Expedia. We found a MUCH better hotel which didn't cost much more (Venetia Palace).

We had room 6 which is economy apparently. The room is very small, not a double room and would suit a single traveller. Bathroom was excellent. The main problem with the room is its situated right next to the hotel door/reception desk and sitting area, you have no privacy at all as you can hear everything going on.I booked the room with free breakfast but there is none. There is however a vending machine tucked away in the corner. You are allocated 5 keys (1 for the big main door leading to the street outside, 1 for the big metal gate inside, 1 for the small elevator, 1 for the hotel and finally 1 for your room. Incredible. Having said all this if you get a room other than No.6, it is a great building/hotel.

Excellent place to stay
A lovely place to stay right in the centre of Rome. The room was very clean, well appointed and much larger than I expected for a central Rome location.

Unpleasant Stay
Our stay wasn't that comfortable. Day 1: The TV didnt work and they admitted to knowing the TV wasnt working but didnt give us a different room. Day 2: The hot water stopped working from noon to night and was fixed upon complaint. Also, the AC and fridge overall didn't work well at all. There is no one at the service desk so you cant even ask for assistance. Nice hotel but it's quite inconvenient in many ways.

Not too bad
We arrived late at night, they left the keys at the door, so we don't have to sleep on street, this is quite nice. However, in my room the shower has water leakage problem. They allowed the change of the room on the 2nd day. The breakfast is horrible. Location is good. No air conditioner(or not working). The outcome is the room is very hot at night.

Great Hotel,
Great Hotel and if we go back to Rome we would not hesitate to book again. We booked the suit which gave us a bit extra room and it worked out very good. Location is good only a 10 minute walk from Termini with plenty of bars and restaurants near by. Very safe. Just a couple of pointers that guests may find useful 1)The Hotel is not obvious as it's through a courtyard, look for street numbers, you won't find any indication of the Hotel from the street. 2)The lift requires a key to operate it and with the Hotel being on the 5th floor, if there is more than 1 in the group send someone up first to register and get a key rather than struggle up stairs with bags. 3)The breakfast is simple with coffee, juice, yoghurt and a croissant. But no knife for the butter or jam, take a plastic knife 4)There are no glasses or beakers provided if you want a drink. Overall though we would recommend this Hotel, great room, good location and helpful staff.

Comfortable stay
Very central location in centre of retail district of Rome, near Repubblica Station. Check-in was not staffed at all times, so I had to notify reception in advance. Staff were helpful, but had limited English. Room was clean, quiet and confortable. Wifi was excellent. Breakfast consisted of fruit juice, croissants and crisp bread, jam, and tea or coffee. TV showed only Italian and French stations, not English. I was unable to obtain an iron for clothes.

Convenient and worth the money
It's a good hotel situated in a very convenient location. However, the check-in can be a problem. You need to reconfirm your arrival time with the staff so he can be there for the check-in. One would have expected a 24 hour check-in from a "hotel", no? Anyway, apart from that, everything else was good value for the money paid.

Tidy room, but that's it.
A few weeks before our stay, the hotel emailed me to confirm our estimated time of arrival. We were pleased to be contacted and confirmed due to arrive about 7pm, as our train was due in at 6.30pm. After a wrong turn, we arrived at 7.25pm & reception was due to be open til 8pm. However they did not answer the buzzer on the external door. Eventfully, a resident of the building came and we got past the first door. Then there was a locked iron gate. Again, no answer on the buzzer and eventfully a resident came and we got past our second obstacle. Six flights of stairs up, (the lift only works with a key), I find a note on the locked hotel door - 'Gone out, please call...' and a number. My phone was flat, so I found the receptionist at different hotel downstairs who kindly called a staff member to come let us in. Not a great start. The room was clean, tidy. The bathroom was modern and clean- all fine, except the rain shower head did not work and we were left with a low handheld shower head. Breakfast was disappointing. On first day of arrival we were asked what we wanted for breakfast and what time we wanted it; and so it stayed throughout stay without option of changing it. Only on the first day did we get what we asked for, after which it became an individually wrapped croissant, an orange juice and a 30 cent coffee from the machine. We didn't get breakfast at all on our last day. There was no staff presence, no opportunity to ask or advise anything. Disappointing.

Exceptional service but broken shower floor.
My stay was wonderful. The only problem we experienced would be the shower room. The shower floor and seat were broken. They are taped by the scotch tape. They are not nice and we still can feel the hole on the floor from the broken part. This also created a massive water leakage to the bathroom floor. However, everything else was fine especially the service given by Esperanza. She provided us with an exceptional service. We can't thank her enough. Moreover, the hotel location is great near the metro station and can walk to all main tourist attraction in town.

Good location but overall no value for money.
We were disappointed by the bathroom condition. The shower quality was very poor and old. We were told to have the breakfast in our room. The quality of the furniture was good but overall the price was expensive for what the hotel was offering.. On the other hand the hotel is very close to the Termini and in a walking distance of many sightseeings. Via Nationale is also great for shopping.

Not satisfied.
It was ok. Although the check-in time was at 2:00 and we had told them that our flight was coming in for 11:30, they kept calling to find out when we were arriving. The air conditioner didn't really work. The bathtub leaked. When I went to enjoy breakfast, I was advised that breakfast was served in the room and all the food was prepackaged. I will probably never stay at this place again when visiting Rome.

Hotel Closed???
The reason i rate this hotel so poorly is when we arrived at the hotel, it was in fact CLOSED, yes the hotel i had booked, and that had e-mailed me two days previously about the time of my arrival was CLOSED!! I'm very confident there isn't a worse service than having NO service what so ever, although hotels.com can not be to blame and we extremely helpful with the situation.

We had a nice stay, all was quite perfect. Location is very central. The hotel serves the purpose of a city-trip. If you enjoy nice breakfast this is not your choice but they do not claim to be a place for nice breakfast so its in order. If I could I would not take the breakfast anymore and take it in one of the very nice close by restaurants which are open in the morning. I would take the hotel again over all it was very pleasant.

Room was nice and big. Good bathroom and large bath. Location close to railroad station and only OK to real tourist sites. Hard to find and get in to but OK once you get there. Front desk is not there all day. It worked for us but maybe not everyone. Not for your first trip to Rome but good if you want to be by train

We'd stay here again :)
A very traditional hotel in its style and charm. It was a little tricky to find as it's located through large secure doors on the main road. Good to see that security has a high priority here - you get lots of keys to access all necessary parts. The lift is a little antiqaited and the rooms are traditionally furnished which gave our visit a nice feel as it's what we wanted rather than a modern souless-type hotel. Our room was spotless and the staff very pleasant and accomodating. A good breakfast on a tray in your room at the time you want it is a nice touch. Centralish location and near cafes and bars. We did lots of sightseeing by foot (except the Vatican!). Close to Republic Metro station.

Great location, difficult to access
The best thing about this hotel was the location. Walking distance to all the main attractions and restaurants nearby. The room was adequate, air con did not cool the room very much, bathroom tired but very clean. Breakfast consisted of coffee, juice, yoghurt and cake! No breakfast room, so it was brought to our room. Accessing the hotel on arrival was a mission, even our driver could not find it. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The hotel was surprisingly quiet as it was a main road, so we had a good night sleep each night of our stay.
