"Our stay at 1661 was the perfect location for us to attend a wedding, walk into town, visit their farm & animals, enjoy daily wine & nibbles and breakfast coffee & muffins. We also had 2 opportunities to enjoy the breakfast buffet and both mornings had delicious offerings with home-grown veggies & fresh flowers. "Room was very nice with huge shower! comfortable bed, nautical theme. View of the marina was good, but would have preferred a private balcony to avoid heavy smoker right outside the room!"

"Check-in was easy and efficient. Diana is a very helpful innkeeper, she went extra distance to send us an item that we left behind in our room. We truly enjoyed quiet serenity of the island on the closing weekend of the season. Hope to return sooner rather than later."

"Charming hotel. Love the history. Staff is extremely nice and welcoming. Enjoyed quietly reading a book by the fire pits. I happened to stay in a room that was above the furnace, I guess? So my “Comfort “ rating would have been higher, but my room was pretty hot - even with the window propped open. Not a huge deal tho. Really loved my first trip to BI and my stay at The National. Will definitely be back. Thanks again to the staff!"

Wilber helped us out in many ways, sharing great information about dining options and things to do. He was extra accommodating which made our stay fantastic. "We enjoyed our visit to this clean, solid, accommodating inn. Lovely hosts run a charming place with a laid back vibe for a welcoming stay. Great spot with water views but it’s a mile walk or cab ride from Old Harbor ferry. (No Uber) Decent breakfast. "
