Standing at an altitude of 1,860m, the pretty resort of Risoul boasts little chalets and more modern shingle-fronted buildings. Every year, from mid-December to mid-April, winter sports fans flock here for sports of all kinds, from alpine skiing to snowboarding, guided snowshoe walks and off-piste skiing.
Risoul is a paradise for skiers of all abilities and families with children who dream of holidays in the snow! Created in the 1970s, the ski resort of Risoul 1850 offers snowsports enthusiasts an impressive ski area, the Forêt Blanche, which is the largest in the southern Alps. It comprises 115 miles of cross-country and downhill ski slopes, as well as an area especially for novice skiers.
So if you're a beginner or your kids want to learn to ski, no problem! There are two ski schools in Risoul, as well as nurseries. Lessons, which are provided according to age groups, are designed to make learning to ski fun, in groups or one-on-one, with certified instructors. For skiing gear, there are around 15 shops around the resort, where you can buy or rent equipment. Finally, you can book your ski package online, on the official website, for peace of mind before you leave.
Tired out by the exertion? Bring the family and relax at the ice rink, try the toboggan run (open all season) or treat yourself to a hearty meal in one of Risoul's restaurants.
And there's plenty to do in the summer. You can enjoy mountain biking with a mountain guide, climbing, or experience the thrill of the giant zipline. And if you're not scared of getting wet, try the various water activities on offer, from canyoning to rafting and whitewater canoeing on the Durance river. Otherwise, to cool down on hot days, you can also enjoy swimming in Eygliers lake. Your kids will love the amusement park, which is open in summer...
Treat yourself to a breath of fresh mountain air!
