What was excellent: location, less than 5 minutes from subway. And for a tourist, the subway serves really well. Less than 15 minutes walking to "Largo do Machado", where several buses leave for other points where the subway doesn't go. Staff is very, very friendly and fairly knowledgeable. Bathroom size was very good and shower was great. Fridge inside the room (although empty) worked well.
What was ok: air conditioning (gave up by the end of our stay but still good. It was around 38ºC / 95ºF when we were there. The size of the room was also very small for American standards (but livable). Internet worked good on non-peak hours. Breakfast also good, but before 8h30am only. After that, very little is refilled.
What needs improvement: since you can't change the size of the room, I think they could do more to make us comfortable. There was cream cheese and briefs left from previous guest in the room; they forgot to leave us towels on the second day of our staying; the bed and furniture is new but bed sheets are old and small. We woke up everyday with no sheet under us, cause they would not fit the bed! Also, two small old pillows only. No cups, no place to put tooth brushes, no soap holder (no soap on the first day), little things that should be easy to arrange. There was a table, but no chair (and I asked, but they just don't have it). So if they just put some thought into organizing the room better (leaving the password for the internet in there, for example), it'd be great.
