"They are trying to revitalize this area. So construction is going on (no noise, but some dilapidated buildings around , and that might turn off some people, but it really made it quite charming for us. "Not sure what the negative comments were all about, the resort is nice. Has some age showing but its not obvious. Front desk young lady at checkin was super! Helped with all kinds of things, very friendly . Our 5th floor "cheap" room in the Wave Building with balcony is quite nice. Still can see ocean beyond a roof below. We did not eat at the hotel restaraunts or buy drinks. Average food entres are 25 to 40 bucks. There is a great local bar/eatery across the street with a good assortment...
